Fortuna Dusseldorf to Win and Over 2.5 Match Goals

Reason for tip

Fortuna Dusseldorf won the first-leg 3-0 and, although it was not as one-sided as the scoreline suggests, Bochum looked like a beaten side by the end.  The Undescendables have now lost three games in a row with 12 goals conceded across those defeats and should be backed to lose this one with a few goals pit past them too.

Fortuna Dusseldorf 3-1

Reason for tip

Bochum have conceded 12 goals in their last three games and it is pretty evident that when they can easily cave in once their opponents break the ice. Fortuna Dusseldorf have scored exactly three goals in their last two home games, but did not keep a clean sheet in either win so a 3-1 scoreline may be forthcoming.

Felix Klaus To Score Anytime

Reason for tip

Fortuna’s Felix Klaus scored, hit the woodwork and saw a long-range effort well saved in the first-leg, so the attacking midfielder looks as good a bet as anyone to bag in the second game too.

Fortuna Dusseldorf vs Bochum Predictions

  • Fortuna Dusseldorf have one foot back in the top-flight after winning the first-leg 3-0
  • Bochum have lost three games in a row with 12 goals conceded across those defeats
  • Fortuna’s Felix Klaus scored, hit the woodwork and saw a long-range effort well saved in the first-leg

Fortuna have one foot in the top-flight

Fortuna Dusseldorf are one step away from clinching their return to the Bundesliga and can fall over the line if they need to after taking a 3-0 lead away from the first-leg in Bochum.

The Undescendables looked well-beaten by the end of the night at Vonovia Ruhrstadion as goals from Felix Klaus and Yannick Engelhardt sealed the result after a bizarre own goal gave Fortuna the lead. Bochum striker Phillipp Hofmann turned the ball past his own keeper, who had been caught out of position by Christos Tzolis’ wickedly inswinging corner.

It set the tone for the night and Bochum’s defence now looks so short on confidence in each other after shipping 12 goals in their last three games that another big win for Fortuna may well be on the cards.

Klaus can deliver another goal

Daniel Thioune’s side have won their last six games at Markur Spiel-Arena and have bagged three goals in each of their last two, so the sensible play here is probably to take the hosts to win with over 2.5 goals in the game.

Bochum, who scored in 10 of their 17 away league games, had only one notable chance in the first-leg, but Fortuna have failed to keep clean sheets in their last two home league games so a 3-1 correct score is advised.

And don’t sleep on Fortuna’s attacking midfielder Felix Klaus, who had an all-action 90 minutes in Thursday’s hame. He hit the crossbar and saw a long-range effort brilliantly saved either side of finishing off the flowing counter-attack that put the visitors 2-0 up.
