Fulham vs Blackburn Predictions
For years this was a Premier League clash but it might be a while before either are back at that level. That is certainly true of Blackburn who having lost Josh King and Rudy Gestede over the summer, have looked far less threatening in the opening weeks.
A return of just 3 points from their opening 5 games represents a worrying start and it could get worse at Craven Cottage on Sunday. Their final game before the international break perhaps showed off their problems best. A drab 0-0 draw at home to local rivals Bolton, who had been having even more goalscoring problems than their hosts, was not the perfect way to go into the break.
Worryingly for Gary Bowyer and his Blackburn side they head to London, at a time when Fulham have just found their goalscoring touch. They’ve netted in all of their last 13 Championship games and have bagged 3 in their last two matches, which were a 3-0 win over Sheffield United in the Capital One Cup prior to a 3-1 success at Rotherham in the league last time out. Ross McCormack netted half of those goals and he could be a big threat this weekend.
They clearly possess more creativity and coolness in the final third than their opponents on Sunday. It’s highly unlikely that Fulham will need to score 3 again against a Blackburn side that has only managed 3 Championship goals in 5 games this season. Therefore you have to fancy Fulham to get the better of Rovers here and move into the top half of the league at long odds of 6/4.
The Cottagers aren’t the best defensively though and have conceded in every one of their Championship games so far this season. Therefore an away goal isn’t out of the question at all but you have to sense Fulham will still have enough to win the game given their greater attacking threat. Therefore consider backing Fulham to win 2-1 at 17/2.
