Germany U23 vs Ivory Coast U23 Predictions
- There have been over 2.5 goals scored in three of the four games involving one of these sides at the Olympics.
- Germany have scored five goals in their two games.
- Germany probably need to win to progress.
Expect goals as Germany face Les Elephants
The meeting between Germany and Ivory Coast on Wednesday is crucial for both sides as, barring something extraordinary, one will reach the 2020 Olympics knockout stages and the other will be boarding an early plane home.
With Brazil leading Group D ahead of their match with Saudi Arabia, it would take an unlikely set of results for both Ivory Coast and Germany to progress.
The Africans have the advantage as they have four points from their two games, while Germany have three after a defeat to Brazil and a win over the Saudis.
This is likely to be a close and at times cagey affair but the Germans may just come out on top. They almost certainly need to win to keep their medal hopes alive and as such are the team who will be pushing for the win, while the Ivorians could be tempted to try and hold on for a point and that is a dangerous way to play for 90 minutes.
The Elephants were also unable to make their extra-man advantage count against Brazil despite playing against 10-men for the majority of the game, with Douglas Luiz dismissed after just 12 minutes, while Germany have managed five goals in their two games.
Three of the four games involving one of these two sides at the Olympics have seen at least three goals scored in total so over 2.5 goals looks a good bet in this match-up, and we like the look of a 3-1 win for the Germans in the correct score market.
