A good opportunity for Getafe
Getafe turned in one of their best displays of an under par season to hold leaders Atletico Madrid to a goalless draw here last Saturday and Pepe Bordalas’ side can take plenty of confidence from that result into this weekend’s clash against Elche.
The point against Los Colchoneros extended a decent little run for Getafe at the Coliseum, where they have looked much more like their old selves in recent weeks. Los Azulones have lost just one of their last five outings at home and it’s easy to see why they’re solid favourites at a shade of odds-on to beat an Elche side who are hapless on the road.
The visitors have lost their last six away trips and are now without a win in 12 on their travels, losing nine. Fran Escriba’s charges will be fighting for their lives on Sunday as they are just one point above the drop zone, though it’s difficult to envisage them getting anything from the capital if Getafe can replicate anything close to the level of performance which they set last time out.
This looks a decent opportunity for Getafe to put some real daylight between themselves and the bottom three and they also ran out convincing 1-3 winners in January’s reverse fixture at Estadio Martinez Valero.
We think the hosts are a solid wager for Sunday’s opener in Spain and we’re also forecasting a 2-0 correct score in favour of the Madrilenians.
