Getafe vs Elche Predictions

  • Under 2.5 goals have been scored in ten of Elche’s last 11 La Liga games including each of their three starts this term.
  • Under 2.5 goals have also been netted in seven of Getafe’s last nine top flight outings.
  • Both sides have scored just one goal apiece in their opening three matches this season.

Low scoring clash likely at the Coliseum

A low scoring scrap looks likely at Coliseum Alfonso Perez in La Liga on Monday night as both Getafe and Elche go in search of their first win of the campaign.

Getafe have suffered the worst possible start to the season with three defeats from three, and while this Matchday 4 contest represents their easiest assignment so far following losses to Valencia, Sevilla and Barcelona, the Madrilenians can’t be fancied to break their duck at odds-on despite Elche’s underwhelming form and woeful away record.

Los Franjiverdes have fared slightly better in the opening exchanges of the campaign in picking up draws against Athletic Bilbao and Sevilla, while they also battled admirably in a 1-0 defeat to champions Atletico Madrid at Wanda Metropolitano on Matchday 2.

But Fran Escriba’s side have won just one of their last 18 La Liga starts on the road, losing 13, so odds of just under 4/1 for an away success this Monday evening still aren’t enough to tempt.

Under 2.5 goals rates the better wager for the action at the Coliseum, with less than three goals netted in ten of Elche’s last 11 league games and in six of Getafe’s last eight. The sides have mustered just one goal apiece from three outings this term, so we can be fairly confident about how this fixture will play out, particularly as both sides are likely to adopt a cautious approach.

With a lack of goals anticipated and neither team appealing in the 1X2 market, we’re also tipping up a goalless draw in Madrid on Matchday 4.
