Gimnastic Tarragona vs Alcorcon Predictions

This Sunday’s game features two sides that finished in the wrong half of the Segunda Division last term. Both Gimnastic Tarragona and Alcorcon beat the drop by a bit of a margin though and they will be targeting mid-table safety this season. It might be better than that for Alcorcon, with the Madrid minnows in great form right night ahead of this trip to Catalonia.

They hired Cristóbal Parralo in the summer and so far at least the former Depor boss has done a fantastic job. Defensively he has really got them organised and it’s 4 wins out of 5 in all competitions heading into this one for Alcorcon. The exception was their last game but that was still a very creditable 0-0 draw away to promotion hopefuls Las Palmas. They are one of just three sides above Alcorcon though heading into this fixture and the side from the capital could move into the automatic promotion places if a few results go their way this weekend.

Trying to get out of the relegation places is the aim right now for Nastic. They’ve put just 6 points on the board from their opening 8 matches and the pressure is really growing on José Gordillo. He steered them to safety following a late appointment last term but if results don’t improve, he will surely be out of a job again soon.

They did pick up a decent point at Cadiz last time out but overall you have to fear a bit for the hosts here. The Catalan club have the 3rd worst home record in the division with an average of just one point per home game so far this term. They’ve only won once all season in all competitions and could end this weekend rock bottom if they are not careful.

They certainly aren’t catching Alcorcon at a good time. The visitors are on fire right now with a remarkable sequence of 7 straight clean sheets. They’ve not conceded since a trip to table-topping Malaga back in late August and they will fancy they can extend that streak further against struggling opponents. Backing Alcorcon to Win to Nil could therefore be worth considering at decent odds.

That 1-0 loss at Malaga was also their only defeat of the season. On current form backing Alcorcon Draw No Bet also looks a very decent punt here as they look to pile more misery on Nastic.
