Granada vs Celta Vigo Predictions
The Galician side are currently occupying 4th place and are the bookies favourites to finish the season as the best of the rest behind Barcelona, Real Madrid and Atletico. That of course would mean Champions League football for Celta Vigo which would be an incredible achievement but they will know there is still an awfully long way to go.
The main criticism had been their tendency to capitulate defensively this season and only win matches when their flamboyant attacking players had been firing. Results like their 3-3 draw against Las Palmas and 5-1 defeat at home to Valencia suggested Celta had a fragile underbelly but in the last few weeks they’ve managed to win a few games ugly and that could be key in terms of their long-term top four ambitions.
Celta have won 4 of their last 5 matches but they face a Granada side looking for their 3rd straight win in all competitions here. Granada won a crucial relegation six-pointer at Levante last time out in the league and saw off Leganes in the Copa del Rey in midweek so they’ll come into this game with a bit of confidence.
Goals do seem likely here. Both teams have scored in 11 of the last 15 matches involving Celta Vigo and in 8 of the last 11 involving Granada. Celta will come here looking to win but with home advantage Granada will have a go too and at 4/5 there is value in backing both teams to score.
It’s the visitors who unquestionably have that little bit extra though and they have won 5 of their 8 away games this year so against 17th place Granada, they will feel as though they are capable of edging this. At 8/1 they look worth backing to record a 2-1 victory.
