Gremio vs Corinthians Predictions

Saturday’s Brazilian Serie A action sees Gremio doing battle with Corinthians in Porto Alegre. A close game is expected to be in order as the two battle for the points on offer.

After winning an impressive 4 league matches in a row, plunging in a huge 16 goals in the process, Gremio shot up the table. Nonetheless, the team fell to a 2-1 to defeat to Fluminense last weekend when resting players for a midweek Libertadores semi final first leg with Flamengo, which they drew 1-1, and must now re-focus their efforts on league affairs.

Indeed, currently down in 8th, Renato Gaucho’s troops find themselves 3 points adrift of the all important top 6 places and will be looking to pick up a good result on Saturday to remain in contention. Unbeaten in 8 Serie A home games, confidence can can certainly be high in doing exactly that and the team won’t come into the game with anything less than 3 points in mind.

Nonetheless, with Corinthians in town, getting them will not be easy as the visitors arrive in good shape. Indeed, Fabio Carille’s men are currently 4th and now just 8 points shy of leaders Flamengo, raising hopes of a late title push. Having lost just 1 of their last 14 league games, the visitors are in very strong form and won’t be travelling to Porto Alegre in apprehensive state.

Indeed, a 1-0 win away at Chapecoense in the week has spirits high in visiting ranks and they’ve been reasonably solid on the road in recent weeks. Whilst that win was something of rarity, Corinthians to tend to be hard to break down on their travels; something evidenced by the fact that 4 of their last 6 trips have ended in draws.

All things considered, we’re expecting a balanced an even game between the two on Saturday. Man for man, there’s not a huge difference between the two in terms of quality and both arrive motivated to secure a positive result for their respective aims on the table.

As far as the betting goes, it’s backing a draw that has captured our attention and looks a good value way to play. Gremio rarely lose at home, Corinthians rarely lose at all of late and given that the two shared the spoils in a 0-0 draw earlier on this season; we can see things ending all square once again, this time with a goal each in a 1-1 draw.
