Grimsby Town vs Halifax Predictions
- Halifax have lost just one of their last eight league games.
- Grimsby lost eight of their last nine games, failing to score in six defeats.
- Halifax lost just two of their 11 away league games this season.
Grimsby’s play-off hopes slowly slip away
It had been a great season for Grimsby, they had spent four rounds at the top of the table ending in October but have since lost six of their seven league outings to this point, a run of form which has seen them tumble out of the play-off frame altogether.
While Grimsby are amongst the best performing home teams with a brilliant return of: W7, L2 in league games here this term, both of their defeats did come in their last three home league games. As such, the Mariners come into this game as a wounded beast.
Adding further doubt to the chances of Grimsby here is the fact that their manager, Paul Hurst, failed to win four of his six personal H2Hs with Halifax (D1, L3). Notably, his side on the day conceded exactly four goals in two of those defeats.
Halifax aren’t quite bankers
In stark contrast to the hosts, Halifax have hit their stride and were level on points at the peak of the table at the time of writing. With promotion on their mind, Halifax come here seeking an extension to their five-game unbeaten run of National League away games.
Even though Halifax are in flying form, Grimsby’s early-season performances casts doubt on the away win. Consequently, there is still a great bit of value to be found in the draw no bet market.
Bold bettors could just take value and back Halifax to win at a tasty price, but I predict a tight affair that will end 1-0 to the visitors in their quest for a place in the EFL.
