Hartlepool vs Tranmere Predictions

  • Hartlepool have the second-best home record in League Two, winning seven of 11 games, with the Pools’ only home defeats coming against the teams sat in first and sixth.
  • Tranmere have won just three times on the road this season, two of which were against teams occupying spots in the bottom four.
  • Only three teams, all of them in the bottom five of the table, have scored fewer than Tranmere’s seven away league goals this term.

In-form Tranmere face difficult test

Tranmere Rovers have won their last four games in League Two, after a Boxing Day success against Barrow, and have moved into the automatic promotion places. However, their trip to Hartlepool on Wednesday night represents a difficult test.

Tranmere have only won three of their 11 away games this season, two of which came against teams in the bottom four of the League Two table. Furthermore, only three teams, all of whom sit in the bottom five of the division, have scored fewer away goals than Rovers, who have managed just seven in their 11 road trips.

For a side with a questionable away record, a trip to Hartlepool may not be entirely welcome. Hartlepool’s home record is the second-best in League Two, with the Pools boasting seven wins in 11 games at Victoria Park. Only table-topping Forest Green and sixth-placed Newport have won at Hartlepool this season.

Hosts can snatch a result

Despite Tranmere’s strong recent run, a trip to face Graeme Lee’s side represents a very difficult test. Hartlepool’s superb home record makes them worth backing on the draw no bet market, giving punters insurance against the draw, of which Tranmere have already managed five on the road this campaign.

Given Tranmere’s dire goals return on their travels, a 1-0 home win could represent a solid correct score play.
