Heidenheim vs Wehen Wiesbaden Predictions

  • Heidenheim won five and drew three of their last eight games at home.
  • Wehen found the net at least once in five of their last seven away assignments.
  • Heidenheim scored two or more goals in three of their last four home fixtures.
  • Over 2.5 goals were scored in 75% of Heidenheim’s last four home games.

Heidenheim need to get back on track

Heidenheim’s pursuit of promotion was knocked off course last week when they were turned over 3-0 in disappointing fashion at bottom half club Bochum.

The defeat was Heidenheim’s joint biggest of the 2019/20 season so far and just about the worst possible way to restart the campaign after the enforced hiatus.

Coach Frank Schmidt will be determined to restraighten his team’s path as quickly as possible against relegation threatened Wehen on Friday, though we’re not predicting them to have it all their own way.

Wehen carry goal threat

Wehen travel to Heidenheim on the back of successive wins, and their dramatic injury time winning penalty against high flying Stuttgart last weekend is sure to galvanise their resolve ahead of another crucial game.

That victory dragged Wehen out of the second tier’s bottom two and put them within striking distance of safety.  The confidence gained from that triumph should allow Wehen to play a little more openly than they might have at the Voith-Arena on Friday, and that should in turn lead to plenty of chances at either end.

Heidenheim are undefeated in eight games on their own patch, though the clean sheets that marked their results in the early stages of that positive run have all but disappeared more recently, with goals scored by the visiting team in 75% of the last four Bundesliga 2 games at the Voith-Arena.

Goal markets worth considering

Wehen have been formidable visitors at times this season, taking points in seven of their 13 away assignments since August, notching at least once in five of their last seven fixtures on the road along the way.

Rüdiger Rehm’s charges have the tools and self-belief to register again on Friday, though keeping their hosts off the scoresheet at the other end should prove tricky.

Heidenheim scored two or more goals in five of their last seven games on home turf, netting three times or more in a further three of those contests, with key attacker Tim Kleindienst helping himself to a trio of braces at the Voith-Arena during the same period.

With Kleindienst’s goalscoring touch and home momentum a powerful combination, Heidenheim can outscore Wehen this week, making the over 2.5 and both teams to score market worth considering for Friday’s fixture, while our correct score prediction points towards a 3-2 home win.
