Lille left it late to win the first leg of their Europa Conference League playoff with Rijeka last Thursday, winning 2-1 in France thanks to Leny Yoro’s 89th-minute strike, but punters should not rush to back them in the away fixture.

Lille dominated the ball in that first leg but it was far from plain sailing with Rijeka opening the scoring after 24 minutes and managing six shots on target at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy.

Since then Lille suffered a 4-1 hammering at the hands of Lorient in Ligue 1 on Sunday and there could also be goals on the cards in Thursday’s fixture.

Defensive deficiencies could hinder Lille

In their four competitive matches this season, Lille have posted just one clean sheet and defensively they looked there for the taking in the first leg.

Playing in their own backyard, Rijeka also know they have nothing to lose going into this match and they have to attack it, so both teams to score and over 2.5 goals could be a worthwhile bet.

It has clicked in each of Lille’s last two matches and in four of Rijeka’s last five games.

Lille looked a little shaky last time out in the Europa Conference League and as far as a correct score prediction goes, 2-2 looks a decent pick.
