Honduras vs Grenada Predictions

• Grenada are ranked 160 in the Fifa rankings, the lowest of any team in the Gold Cup.

Honduras too hot for minnows Grenada

Honduras and Grenada meet in the early hours of Wednesday morning in Group D of the CONCACAF Gold Cup.

Honduras should have genuine aspirations of progressing beyond the group stages and will be looking to kick off their campaign with a win over Grenada, who are the lowest ranked team in the competition at 160 by Fifa.

The Hondurans have just one win in their last seven games in a run stretching back to 2019, with their one victory coming against Costa Rica after penalties in the Nations League.  However, Los Catrachos have faced some stern tests during that time and one-goal defeats to both USA and Greece show they have the ability to compete at a high level.

Grenada have one win and three defeats from four games so far in 2021.  The Spice Boys did pick up a 1-0 win over the Virgin Islands in March, but losses to El Salvador, Antigua and Barbuda and Montserrat suggest they could be in for a tough time against Honduras at the BBVA Compass Stadium in Houston. 

Honduras do have the ability to put teams to the sword and have claimed 4-0 wins over Trinidad and Tobago, Puerto Rico and El Salvador in 2019, having played just two games in 2020, and we think they can overcome Grenada with a -1 handicap in their Gold Cup opener.  A 4-0 win for Honduras stands out in the correct score market, given most teams ease off when they take a four-goal lead.
