Huddersfield can see off relegated Cambridge

Huddersfield are in poor form, but they might be the value bet to turn things around when relegation-threatened Cambridge United visit the John Smith’s Stadium on Friday.

They are ninth in League One, 14 places and 29 points above Cambridge United, with 19 wins, seven draws and 16 defeats from their 42 games this season, while the visitors have eight wins so far.

Huddersfield dominated possession in their 3-0 defeat away to Burton Albion last weekend, having 65.2% of the ball, but they failed to register a shot on target. This was a poor outcome for Huddersfield, who had been priced at 13/10 to win the game.

They will still be hopeful of getting on the scoresheet here. They have scored an average of 2.20 goals a game in their five League One home games against teams in the bottom six this season.

The visitors have a leaky defence. Cambridge United have conceded 37 goals away from home this season in League One, an average of 1.76 goals per game from their 21 matches on the road.

Huddersfield to win 1-0 looks a decent choice in the correct-score betting. Nine of Cambridge United’s 23 League One defeats this season have been by a 1-0 scoreline and 12 of their last 15 matches have produced under 2.5 goals.
