Chelsea to Win and Over 3.5 Match Goals

Reason for tip

Chelsea should have enough quality to overcome Hull even if they do make changes. Goals should be on the agenda as well as there have been at least four goals scored in five of the Blues’ last six games, back the visitors to win in a game featuring over 3.5 goals.

Chelsea 3-1

Reason for tip

Chelsea’s last four wins have come by 3-1, 3-2, 3-2 and 3-1 scorelines. Chelsea have conceded in 10 consecutive away games so Hull may be able to get on the scoresheet, a 3-1 away win has a chance.

Hull City vs Chelsea Predictions

  • Chelsea have six wins in their last eight games
  • Over 3.5 goals has landed in five of Chelsea’s last six games
  • Hull have just one win in normal time in their last five at home

Tigers unlikely to trouble Chelsea

When Liam Rosenior was sacked by Hull in May 2024, he probably wasn’t expecting to return to the MKM Stadium less than two years later as Chelsea manager.

Rosenior left after Hull had narrowly missed out on the Championship playoffs and he will be fired up for Friday’s FA Cup fourth-round tie against the Tigers.

Chelsea eased past second-tier Charlton 5-1 in the third round and they should have the attacking quality to claim another entertaining win on Humberside.

The Blues let slip a 2-0 lead to draw 2-2 with Leeds in the Premier League on Tuesday night and their last four wins under Rosenior were by 3-1, 3-2, 3-2 and 3-1 scorelines.

Cole Palmer, who scored a first-half hat-trick at Wolves last weekend, may be one of the Chelsea players rested in the cup but they have the squad depth to progress in style.

Hull’s surprise bid for automatic promotion has faltered in February as they drew 0-0 with managerless Watford before Saturday’s 3-2 home defeat to Bristol City.

The Tigers edged past struggling Blackburn on penalties after a goalless 120 minutes in the FA Cup third round but their clash with Club World Cup winners Chelsea is likely to be far more open.
