Hull vs Derby Predictions
These are 2 of the form sides in the division. Hull are unbeaten in 13 matches and have won 6 of their last 7 to move above Brighton and into 1st place. However there are still several sides closely bunched together at the top and they are only 2 points above 4th place Derby who would go top with a win here. The Rams are a confident side right now too and have won 9 of their last 12 matches with a 1-0 defeat to East Midlands rivals Nottingham Forest their only real setback.
While this is a meeting of the top two defences in the league, it is also a clash between two of the most potent attacks and both sides seem to have got more dangerous in the final third as the season has progressed.
Hull have been absolutely rock solid at the KC Stadium, where they are unbeaten in 11 matches this term, winning 9 of them and conceding just 4 goals. However there is reason to think their defence might be breached here. They will be without two members of their usual back four due to suspensions and it could have an unsettling effect on their side and Steve Bruce would certainly have rather had the bans fall on another less challenging game. Michael Dawson, who has started every game so far and promising Scottish full-back Andrew Robertson will both be absent and Derby are well equipped to take advantage of any defensive lapses that might occur as a result.
The Tigers have only failed to score in one of their 17 Championship games this season though so it’s hard to see them not netting at some point in the game either, particularly given they scored 3 times at home to strongly fancied MIddlesbrough in their last home game.
Therefore odds of Evens for both teams to score in this match look good value but picking a winner is a bit tougher.
As you might expect Hull are the favourites with home advantage but we just don’t know how their defensive absentees will effect them as Steve Bruce has been pretty consistent with his team selection so far and those enforced changes will offer Derby hope.
They will be confident about their capabilities of getting a result in any case given they’ve only lost twice all season so a 1-1 draw might be the way to go in the correct score market and you can back that to be the case at 11/2.
