Hungary Under 1.5 Team Goals

Reason for tip

Hungary have failed to score more than once in five of their last six home internationals while Bulgaria, who have kept four consecutive away clean sheets, have conceded just twice in five games under new coach Mladen Krstajic.

Hungary 1-0

Reason for tip

Bulgaria are harder to score against now, but still look blunt in attack. Meanwhile,  four of Hungary’s last ten internationals have finished with them winning by the only goal.

Hungary vs Bulgaria Predictions

  • Hungary have failed to score more than once in five of their last six home internationals.
  • Bulgaria have conceded just twice in five games under new coach Mladen Krstajic.
  • Bulgaria have kept four consecutive away clean sheets

Magyars could make heavy weather of Bulgaria clash

There is nothing that screams goals about Hungary’s opening Euro 2024 qualifier against Bulgaria in Budapest on Monday. On Thursday, Marco Rossi’s side warmed up for the clash with a mundane 1-0 home win over Estonia – a side ranked 38 places lower than Bulgaria on Fifa’s list.
Although the Magyars missed a penalty in the second half, it was a pretty uninspiring performance from the hosts, who were vulnerable on the counter-attack on a couple of occasions too.
Bulgaria, who lost 1-0 at home to Montenegro on Friday, could keep this close for long periods as new coach Mladen Krstajic has turned them into a very hard side to score against. The Triciolours  have conceded just twice in five games under the ex-Serbia boss and come into this fixture looking for a fifth consecutive away clean sheet.

Single goal home win on the cards

Both teams know they will probably be in a three-way battle with Montenegro for second place in Group G behind World Cup finalists Serbia, so there should be some caginess to the game too.
The best approach to take may be to oppose the hosts in the goals markets with backing them to go under 1.5 goals an attractive play at around 5/6 given Hungary have failed to score more than once in five of their last six home internationals.

A 1-0 home win still looks like the most likely end result as four of Hungary’s last ten internationals have finished with them winning by the only goal.
