      Ingolstadt vs Hamburg Predictions

It didn’t look too promising for the newly promoted Ingolstadt at the start of the season. They were eliminated from the DFP Pokal by Unterhaching before the Bundesliga season even begna.

They did manage to get a 1-0 win away at Mainz in their league opener though, but a 4-0 loss at home to Borussia Dortmund brought them back down to Earth with a crash.

They have been very impressive since then though. They have beaten Augsburg and Werder Bremen by identical 1-0 scorelines and managed to hold Wolfsburg to a goalless draw.

Their defensive organisation is very, very impressive. Keeping four clean sheets in five Bundesliga games as a newly promoted side is an achievement that shouldn’t be overlooked, and they definitely deserve their current 5th place standing.

Hamburger drew 0-0 at home to Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday, which took their points tally to seven from their five opening games.

Their two wins have come from a 3-0 victory over the struggling Borussia Monchengladbach and a 3-2 win against Stuttgart, with a 5-0 loss to Bayern Munich and a 2-1 defeat against Cologne tarnishing their record.

Hamburger have won both of the previous matches between these sides, but one was in a friendly four years ago and the other was a DFP Pokal game back in 2008. A lot has changed with Ingolstadt since then.

This will be a battle of two contrasting styles on Tuesday. Ingolstadt have built their tactics on a solid and organised defence, which is something that has proved very successful for them so far.

Hamburger, on the hand hand, have tried to play a very attacking style, and have scored seven goals so far whilst conceding nine in the Bundesliga.

There’s no doubt that, when they get it right, Hamburger are very effective going forward. But they couldn’t get past Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday and have failed to score against Bayern Munich as well.

I think Hamburger are more suited towards scoring against fellow attack minded teams, so I think they’ll struggle against Ingolstadt on Tuesday. Under 2.5 goals at 4/5 look really good, but I also think that Both Teams to Score: No at 1/1 look very good value considering that none of Ingolstadt’s games and three of Hamburger’s games have seen only one team score.
