Inter Miami CF to Win and Over 2.5 Match Goals

      Reason for tip

Vancouver Whitecaps have battled well to reach their first MLS Cup final but they may fall at the last hurdle. The Caps needed extra-time in two of their three playoff games and lack the firepower to keep Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami, who have scored 20 goals while winning five straight home matches, quiet.

      Inter Miami CF 3-1

      Reason for tip

Vancouver may have enough to find the net, given their last blank came in July, but Inter, led by Messi and Luis Suarez, should outscore their opponents. Miami have scored 17 goals in three playoff games and should be backed to bag another three in the final.

Inter Miami CF vs Vancouver Whitecaps Predictions

      • Inter Miami have scored 20 goals while winning each of their last five home games
      • Excluding extra-time victories, Vancouver have won just four of their last 11 away matches
      • Miami’s last nine games have all featured over 2.5 goals

Mighty Miami set for first MLS crown

There may be 3,406 miles between the stadiums of the sides but there are plenty of similarities between MLS Cup contenders Inter Miami and Vancouver Whitecaps, who do battle in a bid to become kings of America on Saturday.

Both are competing in their first MLS Cup final, with Inter in particular doing well to reach this stage only five years after joining the league, both of their managers, Javier Mascherano and Jesper Sorensen, have joined the 13-man list of managers to reach the showpiece in their debut season, and both have star forwards who fans the world over will recognise.

Thomas Muller’s first season with the Caps has already yielded silverware thanks to their Canadian Championship victory but the perennial winner may fall short this time around as stopping Lionel Messi looks a near-impossible task.

Caps could struggle to keep Inter quiet

Vancouver did actually beat Miami 5-1 over two legs in the Concacaf Champions Cup in the Spring but those defeats came during a miserable run of one win in eight for Mascherano’s men, who have since found about five extra gears.

Inter have been sensational in the playoffs, winning their three matches by a 17-3 aggregate score, and Messi has been as ruthless as ever of late, scoring 12 goals and providing 13 assists in his last ten games for club and country.

Home advantage, plus the firepower of Messi, Luis Suarez and Tadeo Allende, should see Miami get over the line in an exciting MLS Cup final.
