Inter Milan vs Sparta Prague Predictions

Inter head into their clash with Sparta Prague aiming to restore some pride after a terrible Europa League campaign. The Italians are bottom of their group, and they’ve already been eliminated, they don’t even have a chance of getting off the bottom. Can they slightly improve their points haul in Europe with a home victory here?

They’re up against a Sparta side who qualified as group winners thanks to four straight victories and have come quite a long way since losing 3-0 to Southampton in their opening fixture. With their place in the last 32 secure, they have nothing to worry about ahead of this trip to Milan.

With no need to push for the result here, there are question marks over their squad selection. If he’d like, Sparta boss David Holoubek could name a completely different 11. However, don’t expect the visitors to field a heavily rotated side. Many of the players who got the Czech side this far will want an appearance at San Siro, especially with no pressure on them.

If those players do get an appearance here, they’ll face off against an Inter side who are having an awful season. They’ve played under three different managers in just five Europa League matches, that says a lot about the mess this club is in. That instability hasn’t been helping their defending, the Nerazzurri have conceded two or more goals in 80% of their matches in this competition.

That record is awful compared to Sparta, who kept three straight clean sheets in Europe in order to book a place in the next round. That record is unlikely to continue here, as Inter have scored in 100% of their Serie A games at San Siro. They average two goals per match here in the league, and it’s hard to see them not finding the net in this clash.

Sparta average 16 shots against in their Europa League games so far, so the home side will surely have chances. They’ve scored in their last four in Europe, and we’re backing that record to continue. Given that they also average two goals against per outing in Europe, it’s easy to see both teams scoring here. We’re going with BTTS in this clash, it’s priced at 7/10 with bet365.
