      Inverness CT vs Morton Predictions

Greenock Morton will travel up north where they’ll be hosted by Inverness CT at the Caledonian Stadium on Friday. Can the visitors make it 2 wins in a row and keep their 2nd place in the table?

Inverness will host Greenock Morton on Friday after coming away from Dundee with a point in their pocket. It was a goalless game at Dens Park, with the hosts eager to catch their city rivals at the top of the table, but Thistle denied them that chance.

Manager John Robertson said after the game that his side wasn’t going to “make it easy for them”, in reference to both Dundee sides, and that’s precisely what they were able to do. The Caley Jags were able to conjure up 14 shots, but only 3 of them ended up on target, with their hosts finding the target 3 times too.

But it’s a step forward for Inverness and this result means that they sit in 6th place with 4 points. Their 2-1 win over Arbroath last week gave them their first points of Championship season following a disastrous 4-1 defeat at the hands of league leaders Dundee United.

A few spots above Inverness in the table and 2nd place is Greenock Morton, who have jumped just ahead of Ayr United despite sharing equal points and goal difference. Morton oversaw a stunning comeback in their most recent outing when they hosted Partick Thistle last weekend.

The Ton conceded twice in 3 minutes as the visitors scored in the quick succession before the half-hour mark, with goals coming from veteran Kenny Miller and Rafa de Vita. David Hopkin’s men continued to push for a goal but found no fortune until Nicky Cadden finally pulled one back for the hosts and John Sutton equalising just 5 minutes later. Brian Stuart then grabbed the winner for Morton 10 minutes from time and pushed the Cappielow Park outfit up to 2nd place.

Inverness have done extremely well in their last 4 home games, winning every single one of them, although at a price- they’ve conceded at least once in their previous 6 games at the Caledonian Stadium. Greenock Morton’s away form has been spectacular, although the Ton has been able to score an impressive 10 goals in their last 3 away days, albeit losing 2 of those 3 fixtures. The Caley Jags looked strong against Dundee, which is why we think they’re only going to get better as the season goes on and a game like this could give them a spring in their step to push for promotion. We’re backing the hosts to win and both teams to score, with a final result of 3-1 to John Robertson’s side.
