Ipswich and Both Teams To Score

Reason for tip

Ipswich are pushing for promotion to the Premier League and should have the quality to avoid being on the wrong end of a giant killing when they host sixth tier outfit Maidstone, but the visitors can at least grab a goal in this televised clash. The National League South side have scored in seven consecutive games and scored against League One high-fliers Stevenage in the previous round, while Ipswich conceded in their win over AFC Wimbledon in their third round tie.

Ipswich 4-1

Reason for tip

Ipswich’s superior quality should tell and they can win fairly comfortably even if they do concede. Ipswich have scored 35 goals in 14 home games in the Championship this term but haven’t scored more than four in any home fixture this season, so they can win by a convincing 4-1 scoreline.

Ipswich vs Maidstone United Predictions

  • Maidstone compete in the National League South, the sixth tier.
  • Ipswich have won 12 of their 17 home games in all comps.
  • Maidstone have scored in seven successive games.

Ipswich bid to avoid cupset

Championship promotion hopefuls Ipswich turn their attentions to the FA Cup on Saturday as they take on the lowest-ranked side left in the competition, Maidstone United of the National League South.

The Tractor Boys have more pressing priorities but won’t want to be on the wrong end of an upset in this early televised kick off, and their home form suggests they should be able to win even if boss Kieran McKenna opts to rotate.

Ipswich are the massive favourites to win and have been set a standard handicap of -3, which is a little off putting as Maidstone should be up for this clash. The goals markets look tricky to navigate as well – so a home win with goals at both ends is the pick as our main bet.

Ipswich conceded in the previous round against AFC Wimbledon of the fourth tier and Maidstone pulled off a shock as they overcame Stevenage, a team who are bidding to win promotion from League One.

The visitors have scored in each of their last seven games and in eight of their last nine away from home. They have also hit a solid 41 goals in 28 league games this season and they can at least register a consolation effort here.

Ultimately, Ipswich’s superior quality should tell and that is reflected in a correct score prediction of 4-1 for the hosts. Ipswich have scored 35 goals in 14 home games in the Championship this term but haven’t scored more than four in any home fixture this season, so they can win by a convincing scoreline but one that doesn’t humiliate Maidstone either.
