Italy vs Hungary Predictions

Can struggling Italy find some form?

They may have won Euro 2020, but Italy have been in poor form over the last nine months as they failed to qualify for Qatar 2022 and kicked off their Nations League campaign with a 1-1 draw against Germany.

That was the fourth match in a row in which Roberto Mancini’s usually sturdy defence had conceded, and they have registered just one clean sheet in their last eight – even that was against Northern Ireland.

Both teams have netted in five of those outings, while they are without a win in four at home, but two of those fixtures have ended as 1-1 draws, as have four of their seven Nations League games in Italy.

Hungary looking to build on shock win

Hungary stunned England by beating them 1-0 on Saturday evening, their fourth win in five matches, a run which has seen them keep three clean sheets.

They generally concede on the road though, with both teams scoring in four of their last six on the road, managing just one shut out in the process, during a 1-0 win in Northern Ireland.

Marco Rossi’s side meanwhile have history against them, as Hungary have not beaten Italy in a competitive match since 1955, losing five of the seven meetings since.

I predict that both teams will score in this game, but Italy should have enough to sneak the win, with a 2-1 victory to the hosts my correct score prediction.
