Jonkopings Sodra vs AFC Eskilstuna Predictions

The final game of the weekend in the Swedish Superettan sees two sides meet that were relegated from the top flight last term. Both will be keen on sealing an immediate return, however right now, it’s only really Eskilstuna that look like they are in genuine promotion contention.

They sit in 3rd place heading into this round of fixtures and only 2 points off the leaders. With the top two playing each other, AFC Eskilstuna certainly have a good chance to steal a march on at least one of their likely promotion rivals. They’ve responded really well to a miserable 2017 season which saw them finish bottom of the Allsvenskan with just 20 points.

Jonkopings Sodra actually collected 10 more points in the top flight but they are the side that has found relegation a much tougher pill to swallow. They lost all of their opening four league games as their relegation hangover very much carried over but they have responded pretty well since then with just 1 defeat in their last 6.

Even so, they look very short at around 5/4 for the win here. The only sides that Jonkopings have beaten so far this season all currently sit in the bottom four. Therefore it seems a pretty safe bet that they will find the side that is currently 3rd a much tougher nut to crack. Jonkopings are averaging just 1 point per home game and have just a 20% home win ratio this term, so there’s strong reason to think the visitors will get at least a point.

This is an AFC Eskilstuna side that has only lost once all season and that was away to the current leaders Falkenberg. Since then, they are unbeaten in 8 matches, winning 6 of them and they were very convincing 4-0 winners in their most recent game so they will certainly take confidence from that showing.

Their average of 2.25 points per away game is also the second best in the division so we have strong reason to fancy backing AFC Eskilstuna Double Chance in this one.

In terms of the result, a draw is perhaps marginally more likely than an away win. Jonkopings have certainly tightened up at the back in recent games, conceding just 5 in their last 6 matches but they’ve found goals hard to come by against the better teams and backing a 1-1 Draw might be the way to go in the Correct Score market.
