KR Reykjavik vs Vikingur Reykjavik Predictions
Both KR and Vikingur are hovering just about the drop zone, and they’re in need of points in this clash. The pair have been cut adrift by those at the top of the Urvalsdeild, and there are plenty of sides who are worrying about their future in the top flight. That comes in spite of KR securing a fourth place finish at this level last season, but now they’re just five points above the drop. Can they widen that lead and ease their fears in Sunday’s home game, or will this be another slip up?
The two Reykjavik sides have made mixed starts to the campaign, with Vikingur left in eighth place ahead of this weekend’s round of matches. They’re just a point above the drop zone, which should leave them worried about Saturday’s game. They come in to this game on the back of a heavy defeat, following a 3-0 loss to FH. That defeat has left them in a worrying position, but will this be another defeat when they meet their city rivals?
The hosts are on a high following a 4-0 win over bottom side Keflavik, but KR still have a mixed record this season. They have won just three of their nine matches so far. They aren’t losing a lot of matches though, with a single defeat in their previous eight Urvalsdeild clashes. However, they’ve drawn all but one of their home matches this term, which makes us think that we’re in for a very close encounter between these two teams.
Since the 1st of August, KR have won one home league game. They’re fresh from a 2-2 draw at home to FH, while three of their last five here have been level. That does point to them lacking some sort of cutting edge, especially with four draws in seven in the league, and we can see this encounter finishing all square too.
It’s not just the hosts’ form that makes this game close. Vikingur are winless away from home, having drawn two and losing two so far. They’ve won two of nine in the league, while their last away win in 90 minutes was on the 1st of May. With that in mind, we’re settling on a draw here, which looks like the best value on a game where neither side are carrying enough form to take all three points. We’re backing this one to finish level, with a 1-1 final score.
