      Las Palmas vs Malaga Predictions

Las Palmas have picked up a little bit under Quique Setien and have only lost 1 of their last 6 matches in all competitions. They are impressing in the Copa del Rey having already knocked out Real Sociedad, they won 3-2 at Eibar in midweek to give themselves a really good chance of making the last 8.

They’ve also picked up 4 points from their 2 league matches since the festive break, beating Granada 4-1 at home in their last home game before an excellent 2-2 draw at Athletic Bilbao last time out and they are currently 2 points and 2 place outside the relegation zone, where they have spent most of the season.

Malaga’s games this term have been far less eventful but they have successfully transformed from a side that was losing plenty of games 1-0 or 2-0 into a side that is winning games by the same margin.

It has been a dramatic turnaround in their fortunes over the past month. Having taken just 11 points from their opening 14 games, Malaga were deep in the relegation scrap but they come into this game having won 4 games in a row in La Liga and in doing so have more than doubled their points tally and moved up to 11th place.

They’ve beaten some good teams too with Atletico Madrid and Celta Vigo among their victims and incredibly a club that couldn’t score a goal to save their lives only a couple of months back are now only 5 points off the top six and European places.

They’ve also had the advantage of not playing in the Cup in midweek so should be fresher than Las Palmas, who had a 3 hour return flight to the Basque Country to take on Eibar only 3 days ago. Therefore slight underdogs Malaga look good value at 2.000 with a 0.0 Asian Handicap.

Malaga have the 2nd best defensive record in the league and will be hopeful of another clean sheet against a Las Palmas side that have failed to score in over half of their home games in La Liga this season. The visitors are still not scoring many but they are in the habit of nicking games by 1 goal and at 6/1 are worth a punt to win this 1-0.
