Lazio vs Bayern Munich Predictions

  • Lazio have scored in each of their last 27 consecutive games and haven’t failed to score at home since July 2020.
  • Bayern Munich saw both teams score in four of their six Champions League group stage games.
  • Bayern Munich are unbeaten in 17 Champions League games, winning 16 of them.

Bayern to bounce back from shock weekend loss

Bayern Munich suffered a shock defeat at Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday but this week their attention returns to defending their Champions League crown and, while they aren’t quite as dominant as they were last season, the Bavarian giants are well placed to take a first leg lead in Rome.

The German visitors haven’t lost a Champions League match in nearly two years now and have won 16 of their 17 games since, including every match in last season’s instalment. They are without a doubt the best club in Europe right now, and they will be keen to bounce back from their weekend disappointment here.

In-form Italians not to be underestimated

Lazio certainly aren’t a team to be taken lightly. They have won eight of their last ten games in all competitions and went unbeaten in their first Champions League group stage campaign since 2007.

However, four of their six group games ended all square and their most dangerous opponents were a rather out-of-form Borussia Dortmund. Bayern Munich represent a huge step up in quality and they could struggle to deal with that.

Bayern won’t have it all their own way

That being said, Bayern Munich’s defence isn’t quite what it was last term. They conceded 13 shots per game on average through the group stages and have shipped five goals in their last two competitive outings. They conceded in four of their six group stage matches, and they’re facing a dangerous Lazio front line.

Le Aquile scored in all six of their group games and haven’t drawn a blank in any competition since mid-October – a run of 27 consecutive games. At home that record stretches back to the start of July, so Ciro Immobile and company can definitely trouble Bayern’s defence.

Bayern Munich’s winning record in this competition can’t be ignored though, so backing Bayern Munich to win and both teams to score looks a great value option on Tuesday, along with a 2-1 correct score prediction after the Bavarians scored exactly two goals in two of their last five Champions League games.
