Blackpool to Win

Reason for tip

Blackpool are unbeaten across their last five home league games, winning twice, whereas Wigan, who have lost back-to-back games, have been defeated in three of their six away fixtures.

Blackpool 2-1

Reason for tip

Blackpool have scored at least twice in three of their five home league games, including a 2-1 success against Exeter. Wigan lost 2-1 to Mansfield last time out, the second successive match, and fifth time this season, they have conceded exactly twice.

Blackpool vs Wigan Predictions

  • Blackpool have only lost one of their last five home league games
  • Wigan head the Bloomfield Road on the back of successive defeats
  • The Tangerines have won the lat three head-to-heads on home soil

Can Blackpool bounce back?

The Steve Bruce honeymoon period is well and truly over at Blackpool, with the Tangerines now on a run of three straight defeats.

The most recent of those losses was a 5-1 reversal at Peterborough, although their manager was absent from the dugout for that game following the tragic passing of his young grandson.

At the time of writing, it is not known whether the former Manchester United defender will be in attendance for this game.

But should he be, it will surely inspire Blackpool, whose home form this season has been pretty solid, losing just one of their last five league games at Bloomfield Road.

That run includes impressive victories over Exeter (2-1) and Burton Albion (3-0), and they will be hoping to add another three points to the tally in this outing.

Can Wigan arrest slump?

Visitors Wigan will be looking to stop that from happening in this Lancashire derby, but they don’t have the best of records against Blackpool, losing on each of their last three trips to Bloomfield Road.

On top of that, the Latics head to the seaside on the back of successive losses, firstly 2-0 at Cambridge before being downed by Mansfield (2-1).

The former of those games was on the road, where Shaun Maloney’s side have only picked up one win in six attempts, losing three times.

I predict that Blackpool will win this game, with 2-1 my correct score prediction.
