Expect goals at Bloomfield Road

Blackpool and Wigan are both in must win territory if they are to have any chance of avoiding the drop this season, which should make for an entertaining game at Bloomfield Road on Saturday.  Both teams to score and over 2.5 match goals has been a winning selection in Blackpool’s last five league matches, those five contests have averaged 4.8 goals per game.

Slight preference for a home win

It’s hard to make a strong case for either of these sides given their current plights, but the slight preference is for a home win.

Blackpool have put in some reasonable performances at Bloomfield Road under Mick McCarthy, The Seasiders have lost two of their last nine on home soil, a run which includes victories against QPR and Stoke, while they also managed to take a point off league leaders, Burnley.

It’s harder to be optimistic about the visitors’ chances here, Shaun Maloney’s side have taken one point from their last five Championship away matches and last recorded an away win back in October.
