      Lazio vs Napoli Predictions

It almost doesn’t feel like it, but Lazio have quietly put together a period of extremely strong form in the Serie A. Perhaps it is simply because the stretch that proceeded it was so poor. However, there’s no question that Lazio are a dangerous side. They’re unbeaten in six games with three wins and three draws, including big wins against Inter Milan and Fiorentina. It has taken a little while for the recovery to be reflected in the table, but they now find themselves in eighth place and back in contention for European football next season.

It almost feels like a question of who is going to blink first in the top of the table Serie A battle right now. Juventus have transformed a competitive table with an 11-game winning streak, but Napoli have been the one club equal to that challenge racking up six straight wins of their own, a stretch where they’ve scored 22 goals.

      Head-to-Head

It got ugly in their first meeting in September, where Napoli thrashed Lazio 5-0. Lazio’s away from has been mediocre all season long. The two teams split the Serie A match-ups last season and also met in a tough Coppa Italia semi-final tie, which Lazio eventually won courtesy of a 1-0 second leg away win.

      Team News

Gonzalo Higuain’s status remains questionable for this game and that would be a huge blow for Napoli, especially if it is anything other than a short term absence. Napoli invested €8.5 million in Atalanta midfielder Alberto Grassi at deadline day hoping to add some depth to their squad.

Senad Lulic looks set to miss some time for Lazio, while they are also without Lucas Biglia in a midfield that appears to have recovered from the dark days of ineffectiveness in November and December. Depth is a question mark, but it should hold up during a stretch where the schedule hasn’t been too intense.

      Betting Tip Reason

Lazio are playing much better football, but we like the momentum behind Napoli’s form right now. Of course it has to end at some point, but they have some potential mental scars inflicted from the last meeting between these two teams and they’re very capable of playing a tighter and more defensive-minded style of game if the situation dictates.
