Lyon 2-1

Reason for tip

There have been goals at both ends in each of Lyon’s last two away trips, which they won. And with at least three goals having been scored in three of Le Havre’s last five league games, a 2-1 away win could be on the cards.

Le Havre vs Lyon Predictions

  • Lyon have won four games in a row with at least three goals in each of their last two away trips
  • Le Havre have lost four games in a row
  • At least three goals have been scored in three of Le Havre’s last five league games

Lyon will be wary of Le Havre

After an unwelcome break from action, Lyon return with a winnable Ligue 1 away date at out-of-form Le Havre.  Les Gones had won four games in succession prior to the two-week hiatus, including a 4-1 thumping of Rangers at Ibrox in the Europa League.

Pierre Sage’s side will be wary of tripping up on this trip north, however, after a 3-1 defeat at Stade Oceane halted their three-game winning streak last January.  Le Havre are a better side than their recent results suggest.

They produced a slightly higher expected goals (xG) than Brest in a  2-0 away defeat last time out and a 3-0 home defeat in the derby prior to that was flattering to Lille.

Cherki’s quality can make the difference

Although Didier Digard’s side failed to score in those games, they are creating enough to suggest they can get on this scoresheet against a Lyon side that has kept only one away clean sheet in four attempts this term.

But the visitors have much more quality in their ranks and they will win if Rayan Cherki, who has recovered from the muscle fatigue that caused him to pull out of France’s U21 squad, is anywhere near his best.

Duje Caleta-Car is suspended for this clash, but Lyon appear to have the strength in depth to cope and record a fifth consecutive win.
