Leeds vs Brighton Predictions
- Brighton have struggled in their last two away games, claiming only one point
- Leeds are unbeaten in seven Premier League games
- The hosts have lost only three of their last 15 games across all competitions
- The Seagulls have won only three of nine visits to the bottom 10
Seagulls seek European return
Brighton are well-positioned for a return to European football, and it’s fitting that they need to negotiate a trip to Leeds in order to stay in the hunt for a top-six finish.
Points dropped against last season’s dismal bottom three cost Brighton their second top-six finish. Fabian Hurzeler’s first campaign was a success, and they can take a huge step towards a return to Europe by showing a more clinical side against promoted opposition.
However, Leeds are a much stronger proposition than any of last year’s promoted teams, and they’ve been on a brilliant run to close out the campaign.
Monday’s point suggests Leeds are focused
Leeds were already safe before their visit to Tottenham on Monday, but they didn’t hold back. Daniel Farke’s side will have been disappointed to draw, but that result stretched their unbeaten run in the Premier League to seven matches.
Farke’s outfit have lost only three of their last 15 matches across all competitions, and they’ve won three of their last four at home (D1). While Brighton have the stronger motivation, the hosts should be able to build on their late-season form.
Brighton look vulnerable on the road
The visitors have won five of their 18 away trips this season, and they could fall short in this clash. Their push for Europe has been dented in back-to-back matches on their travels, drawing 2-2 at Tottenham before a 3-1 defeat at Newcastle.
Brighton’s underlying numbers in both of those games were a concern, creating only 0.82 xG at Spurs, while giving up 3.16 xG at Newcastle.
The Seagulls have won three of their nine visits to teams in the bottom half, and they could struggle at Elland Road.
