      Leeds vs Bristol City Predictions

Leeds continue their bid for top spot in the Championship as they host Bristol City this weekend. They were hammered just before the international break, going down 4-1 away to West Brom. That defeat must have lingered over the training ground in recent days, but they finally have the chance to put things right when they return to Elland Road this week. Marcelo Bielsa will want his team to keep up their focus on promotion. After all, the hosts have been made favourites for the Championship title this term.

Leeds are sitting three points shy of leaders Norwich, with their heavy loss at West Brom delivering a blow to their hopes of going up. However, it’s not away results like that which will set them back this term. So far this season, Leeds are just 10th in terms of home records, which they will need to improve on. They’ve claimed 50% of their points at their own ground so far, but there is certainly room for improvement. Sides like Nottingham Forest and Brentford have managed to claim a point at Elland Road on late, but can they grab a result here?

The Robins are also coming off the back of a defeat here, with Preston claiming a 1-0 win at Ashton Gate earlier this month. However, Bristol City are in much worse form, given that they’ve lost their last three matches. They went down to relegation threatened Reading in their last trip, which has left them with just three wins in eight away games. They seem like perfect opponents for a Leeds side who want to improve their form at home.

Leeds are among the top scorers in the Championship this term, and have averaged 1.6 goals per game at home so far. Their home results tend to be fairly resounding, having won by at least two goals in each of their league successes at Elland Road so far. We don’t see the out of form Robins mounting a challenge to Leeds here, given how dominant the hosts are when they hit their stride.

In six matches against Bristol City at Elland Road this century, Leeds have claimed five wins. That good form should continue now they have Bielsa in charge, especially given that he’s had another two week break to whip them into shape. We expect the hosts to come away with the points in this one, while we’re going with a 2-0 win for Leeds.
