Blues on the march
Chelsea’s Premier League title credentials were put to the test as they hosted Arsenal on Sunday and the Blues came through that assignment impressively after a 1-1 draw with the Gunners.
Moises Caicedo’s first-half red card looked set to consign Chelsea to defeat but they battled admirably and looked the more likely team to score even with ten men.
They face a quick turnaround to travel to Leeds to take on a side battling it out at the opposite end of the table.
Chelsea are now six points behind Arsenal and just a single point behind Manchester City, who beat Leeds on Saturday in a pulsating affair.
Farke under pressure
The match looked done and dusted when the Citizens took a 2-0 lead after 25 minutes but the introduction of Dominic Calvert-Lewin saw the Whites really take the game to the Citizens in the second half and they were unfortunate not to get anything from the game after Phil Foden’s 91st minute winner.
However Leeds have now lost six of their last seven matches and the pressure is starting to mount on manager Daniel Farke with his team currently in the relegation zone after losing eight of their first 13 matches.
They have been particularly leaky at the back recently, conceding 11 goals in their last four games, and will need to tighten things up against a Chelsea team who have won nine of their last 12 matches in all competitions.
Visitors fancied
They will be without Caicedo for this clash after his sending off at the weekend but Enzo Maresca’s side are on a roll at present and are looking difficult to stop.
The visitors are on the verge of getting Cole Palmer back from injury too so should be hard to stop when they travel to Elland Road.
Expect Leeds to put up a fight on home soil but they have lost six of the last nine head-to-heads in the Premier League against these opponents and considering the form of the two teams, the Blues should be able to pick up all three points.
Chelsea were 3-2 winners when these two teams met in the FA Cup last year and while this game may not be that high-scoring, the visitors could outscore their hosts once again.
Both teams have scored in 11 of Leeds’ last 13 Premier League home games and Chelsea are fancied to win this one 2-1.
Estevao is Chelsea’s leading scorer in all competitions with five goals in 788 minutes of action and he is taken to get on the scoresheet.
