Tip Reasoning

  • Leeds have won one of their last eight games.
  • No Championship side has more points than Millwall in their last eight league games (17).
  • The Lions have avoided defeat in four of their last five meetings with Leeds.
  • Only Luton have fewer points than Leeds across the last seven in the Championship.

Harsh Exit for Lions

Millwall went out of the FA Cup on Saturday, but they are hoping to bounce back here. The Lions were put up against an impressive Sheffield United side and came up short, but this has still been a great few months for the Lions, who will want to show their quality here.

However, Leeds are still pushing for promotion and top spot in the Championship. This is a difficult test for the visitors, although both clubs are in with a chance of promotion following Millwall’s mid-season run.

Leeds Chase the Lead

Leeds come into this clash just a point shy of top spot, which isn’t a bad position to be in as we approach the end of January. Yet the concern for Marcelo Bielsa and his team is they have put themselves at risk, blowing a healthy lead over the chasing pack with a terrible stretch of form. Will they falter before the finish for the second season running?

Leeds may be second in the table, but they are rooted in the bottom half of the form table. In all competitions, they have won just once in eight matches, while their previous eight in the Championship have seen them pick up more points than just six sides. Meanwhile, Millwall have the joint-highest number of points from that eight-game run (17).

Elland Road Woe

Since (and including) their 3-3 draw at home to Cardiff on December 14th, Leeds have earned six points from seven matches; only Luton (1) have picked up fewer points over this period. That has turned the hosts from runaway promotion candidates to a side battling to stay in second. To make matters worse, Millwall have a strong record against Leeds, which has seen them lose only once in their previous five meetings with the Yorkshire outfit.

No Championship side have earned more points than Millwall (29 from 15 games) since Gary Rowett’s first match in charge at the end of October. They have lost only once in their last 13 matches in the league, while we think that run can continue here. Millwall Double Chance is our pick, as the Lions look to take advantage of a team who have lost three straight games.

Millwall have drawn seven of their 14 away trips so far. Meanwhile, the hosts have drawn two of their last three home league games. The Lions come into this one having seen 43% of their away trips finish 1-1, so we are backing another 1-1 scoreline when they visit Elland Road.
