Tip Reasoning

  • Four of the last six Leganes home league games have finished all square.
  • Seven of the last 11 Real Zaragoza away games in the league have been drawn.

Draw on cards when two troubled teams meet

Real Zaragoza have drawn their last four matches and there’s a good chance there will be a fifth when Los Blanquillos travel to the capital to face Leganes on Friday night.

Juan Ignacio Martínez’s men have not won in the league for more than two months, a run which has seen them slip to 18th in the table and one place above the dreaded drop zone. They still have a five-point cushion over the four clubs below, but Zaragoza need to remember how to close out games when in front and cut out the defensive errors like the one that cost them points against Malaga last weekend.

Leganes have been a big disappointment this season and sit just a couple of places above Zaragoza, so this could be viewed as an opportunity to grab three points. Zaragoza will have their regular back four in situ for this too as Fran Gamez returns at right back and Alejandro Frances switches to his best role on the left-hand side.

Low-scoring affair anticipated

This move should solidify a Zaragoza defence that has conceded ten goals in their last six away games – double the number they had shipped in their previous six road trips. Leganes are unbeaten at home in the league since October, but have only once scored more than a goal at home during that period.

This figures to be a low-scoring affair and the odds of around 4/6 for fewer than three goals to be registered seems fair enough. Leganes have conceded in three of their last four home games, including against next-to-bottom Real Sociedad B, so there is some scope for both teams to score in this.

The best play is probably to take the draw as four of the last six Leganes home league games have finished all square and an incredible seven of the last 11 Real Zaragoza away games in the Segunda have been drawn. A 1-1 scoreline looks about right given Zaragoza have scored multiple goals in only three of 13 road trips and Leganes have scored just the once in eight of their last 11 at home.
