There may be 11 places separating Leicester and Portsmouth in the Championship ahead of this weekend’s round of fixtures, but the gulf is unlikely to be so vast on the pitch. Pompey tend to fare well in big games, drawing with Southampton and beating high-flying Middlesbrough recently, and can hold out to make it five draws in six for the Foxes.

      Reason for tip

With talented attackers in both squads, it is hard to envisage Saturday’s King Power showdown finishing goalless. Pompey have failed to score in just two of their last nine games and have enough firepower to help both teams to score land as a winning bet for the fifth time in six Leicester matches.

      Leicester City vs Portsmouth Predictions

      • Leicester are on a seven-match unbeaten run, although four of those games have finished level
      • Portsmouth have lost just two of their last seven games
      • Both teams to score has been a winning bet in four of the Foxes’ last five games

Plucky Pompey primed to earn a point

Despite being among the top title contenders, Leicester, relegated from the Premier League last term, struggled to readjust to life in the Championship, only narrowly beating Sheffield Wednesday before losing at Preston in their first two games.

However, Marti Cifuentes has steadied the ship and then some since, with the Foxes enjoying a seven-match unbeaten run since that Deepdale defeat.

A 3-1 win over Swansea to sign off for the international break was an impressive result but, while they are in great form, there is no guarantee they follow up against plucky Portsmouth.

Things to finish level in Leicester

Pompey defied the odds to stay up last term and John Mousinho’s men have made a strong start to this campaign, too, picking up a respectable 12 points from nine games.

Portsmouth have beaten high-flying Middlesbrough and drawn with Southampton and Watford while losing just two of their last five games and they can keep up their odds-defying tendencies by earning a point at the King Power.

Leicester may be unbeaten in seven but they have drawn four of their last five games and are likely to be held to another stalemate.
