Leicester vs Derby Predictions
Leicester’s terrible Premier League title defence continued on Sunday when they fell to a 3-0 defeat at home to Manchester United. This leaves them just a point above the relegation zone in the league and without a win in their last five games, four of which have ended in defeat.
The only one of these games that wasn’t a loss was their 2-2 draw at Derby, and even that required an 86th minute equaliser from Wes Morgan and an early own goal from Darren Bent. Things certainly aren’t looking good in the Leicester camp, and chances are their main focus will be on remaining in the Premier League rather than getting too far in the FA Cup.
Leicester’s home form is a little bit better. They have won three, drawn one, and lost three of their last seven games there in all competitions, although two of those defeats have come against Chelsea and Manchester United.
Derby also fell to a defeat at the weekend as Newcastle beat them 1-0 at St James’ Park, to leave them three points adrift of the Championship playoff places in 8th. They have now won three, drawn one, and lost two of their last six games in all competitions.
All three of these defeats have come on the road, leaving them with three losses from their last five away days. This isn’t particularly good news for the travelling fans, considering Leicester’s home form is actually fairly respectable despite their recent troubles.
The bookies are offering fairly good odds on Leicester to triumph on Wednesday, and I think they offer quite a lot of value. The hosts have been decent in front of their own fans for the majority of this season and they’re facing a Derby side who have struggled on the road in the past month or so.
Odds of 19/20 for a Leicester Win look good value for money, so I’m backing that along with a 2-1 correct score predictions at 15/2.
