Leicester vs Southampton Predictions

Leicester are showing no signs of slowing down and relinquishing their famous lead in the Premier League. They remain at the top of the table and hold a five point advantage over 2nd placed Tottenham Hotspur, which is an excellent lead considering there are just seven games remaining in the season.

Their second half of the season has differed drastically from their first half. They are now grinding out 1-0 wins as opposed to just outscoring the opposition, and it’s a testament to the grit, determination, and versatility this squad possesses.

Leicester come into this match having won their last three matches and unbeaten in five, with four of these five games ending 1-0 to the leaders. They have only lost one of their last 13 Premier League matches as well, and have conceded just six goals during this period.

Southampton themselves looked unbeatable when Fraser Forster returned from injury, but a loss against Chelsea broke that defensive wall down. They have managed to get back on track though, and they come into this game having won two, lost two, and drawn one of their last five outings. This includes a remarkable comeback against Liverpool before the international break when they trailed 2-0 at half time before winning the game 3-2.

This has put them in genuine contention for a top four spot. Only Manchester United and West Ham sit between them and 4th placed Manchester City, and a win on Sunday could take them to within a point of the current 4th place occupiers.

However, I don’t think a win is likely for the visitors. Leicester are unbeaten at home since September in the Premier League, and they have only lost twice at the King Power Stadium in the last 12 months. Four of their last five home matches have resulted in victory, so I think odds of 5/4 for a Leicester Win are excellent value for money. I’m going for another 1-0 grind at 6/1 as well.
