Libertad and Atletico Mineiro meet on Tuesday night as the pair fight for a place in the next round of the Copa Libertadores. The hosts sit three points shy of the second-placed Brazilians and a victory will send them through into the knockout round.

After an impressive domestic season, Libertad will be hoping home advantage can swing this for them against an Atletico side who are eighth in the Brazilian top flight. However, home advantage hasn’t done much for the Paraguayan league leaders so far.

Tricky test for Libertad

Libertad made the perfect start in this group by claiming a 1-0 win at Atletico Minero, but they failed to build on that impressive win. They’ve taken just three points from the following four games, including losing both of their home games so far.

While they won 2-1 at bottom side Alianza Lima, Libertad lost 2-1 to them in April. It doesn’t help the hosts’ cause that they’ve now failed to win in three games in all competitions, dropping points in domestic games on either side of their 1-0 loss at Athletico Paranaense.

Meanwhile, the 2013 South American champions have won their last three games in this competition to put themselves just a point shy of top spot. While their hopes of leapfrogging Athletico Paranaense are slim, they’ll want to claim three points on the final day to give themselves a chance. Considering Libertad’s form and their home record in this competition, Atletico Mineiro are a good bet to claim  victory.
