Les Dogues can edge key battle

Lille have won their last four home games in Ligue 1 and they should be backed to beat Marseille in a crucial match in the race for Champions League qualification on Sunday.

Marseille are second in the table, one place above Lille, but just two points separate the two sides. Lille have 16 wins from their 31 games this season, while Marseille have 18 victories.

Lille maintained their winning run with a 2-0 win away at Angers, where they were 11/20 favourites. Lille have won 13 of the 20 games in which they’ve scored first this season, and this was the fifth consecutive game in which they have done so.

It would be no surprise to see Lille score, having found the net in 18 of their last 20 league games. They come into this match on the back of a five-game scoring run, which includes a recent 3-1 win over Auxerre.

Lille are in form at home. They have avoided defeat in nine of their last ten league games at home and have gone unbeaten in five of the last six head-to-heads with Marseille there.

The visitors have been vulnerable defensively recently, with Marseille failing to keep a clean sheet in 17 of their last 20 Ligue 1 games.

Marseille’s last four Ligue 1 road trips have ended in defeat and a 2-0 home win for Lille looks the best correct-score bet. Seven of Lille’s 16 successes this season have been by two goals, and four of Marseille’s nine losses have also been by that margin.
