Both Teams To Score

Reason for tip

Linfield need to overturn a 1-0 first-leg defeat, but the Blues have failed to keep a clean sheet in Europe across their last 11 attempts. The hosts have seen BTTS land in their last four home games in Europe, while Shelbourne have conceded over a goal per game on their travels in their domestic league this year.

Draw 2-2

Reason for tip

Half of Shelbourne’s 12 trips in the Irish top-flight have finished as score draws, while Linfield’s last three home European ties have featured a total of 16 goals. Back the pair to play out an entertaining 2-2 draw.

Linfield vs Shelbourne Predictions

  • BTTS has landed in Linfield’s last four home European ties
  • Shelbourne have conceded over a goal per game domestically this term
  • 16 goals have been scored across Linfield’s last three home games in Europe

Tie to open up at Windsor Park

Linfield went to Tolka Park aiming to frustrate Shelbourne, but they need to get on the front foot in the second leg of this All-Ireland clash in Belfast on Wednesday.

The Republic of Ireland side had 18 shots to Linfield’s four last week, but David Healy’s side are confident of turning their 1-0 defeat around at Windsor Park.

The problem for the Northern Irish champions is their recent home games in Europe haven’t seen them really control proceedings. Their attempt to overturn a 2-0 loss to Stjarnan in last season’s Conference League qualifiers saw them exit the competition after winning the second leg 3-2.

Linfield’s last four home qualifiers have featured both teams scoring, while they’ve failed to keep a clean sheet in Europe since 2022.

Shelbourne have conceded over a goal per game on the road in the league this term, with half of their 12 trips finishing as score draws. The visitors knocked out St Joseph’s in their return to European action last year with a 1-1 draw on the road after a home win, so a similar approach is expected from the Shels.

With Linfield’s last three European ties at Windsor Park featuring a total of 16 goals, both teams to score and a 2-2 draw appeals.
