Hungary 2-1

Reason for tip

Hungary have scored exactly two goals in each of their last three qualifiers while Lithuania have only twice shipped more than two goals in their last eight at home. Hungary’s last two wins in qualifying were both by 2-1 scorelines.

Magyars mean business as Euros beckon

Hungary can seal their spot in the Euro 2024 finals with victory in Kaunas after earning a hard-fought 2-1 win over Group G rivals Serbia on Saturday.

The Magyars gave their all for the win which puts them three points clear of Serbia in the group and they will be expected to get the job done against Lithuania.

Their hosts are coming off a surprise 2-0 away win against Bulgaria, but their opponents wasted three good chances to score before giving the game away when they were reduced to ten men.

Lithuania can score in likely home defeat

Lithuania have scored in each of their three home contests in this group and could well do some again with Hungary prone to the odd defensive lapse.

But Hungary have a brilliant balance of quality and hard work in their midfield and a belief that they can beat anyone these days.

Backing the visitors, who are unbeaten in nine games, to come away with a 2-1 win looks a good option. Hungary have won their last two qualifiers by that score and only a 90th-minute Lithuanian leveller prevented that outcome when they hosted Montenegro last month.
