      Lithuania vs San Marino Predictions

Lithuania’s opening two games in Group E of the Euro 2016 qualifiers brought them back to back wins to put them in good stead for the remaining eight games.

The five games they have played since then have not brought about the same success as their victories against San Marino and Estonia. They have lost all five of them, scoring only one goal and conceding 13 in the process.

If you add friendlies to the mix it looks even worse for the home side. They managed a draw in Ukraine, but apart from that have lost their last seven games.

But they’re not out of the running for a vital 3rd place finish in Group E yet. They are only four points behind 3rd placed Estonia and three points adrift of 4th position Slovenia. A couple of good results in their remaining three games could see them make the Euro 2016 qualifying playoffs.

San Marino don’t have a chance realistically, although mathematically it is still technically possible. They are in rock bottom place, as usual, with one point from their opening seven games.

But one point is a pretty good haul for San Marino. Their goalless draw with Estonia was only the 5th competitive match in their history that they haven’t lost. The other 124 games all ended in defeat for them.

During these 129 matches they have scored a grand total of 20 goals, and conceded an insane 550 at the other end.

They are yet to score during this qualification run as well, and have conceded an average of 3.5 goals per game.

Despite Lithuania being relatively poor, playing against San Marino at home is almost guaranteed to bring goals. That makes odds of 4/7 for Over 2.5 Match Goals look very attractive, and a 3-0 win for Lithuania comes in at 15/4.
