      Liverpool vs Augsburg Predictions

The first leg in Germany was awful, and you could tell that both teams came into this match in relatively poor form. Neither team seemed to have any inspiration within their squad, with Liverpool perhaps marginally edging the tie.

This was a far cry from the Liverpool that beat Aston Villa 6-0 the weekend before, but it was certainly reminiscent of the Liverpool side that had lost to Stoke, Leicester, and West Ham in the weeks leading preceding it.

Augsburg’s win over Hannover at the weekend ended their five match winless streak in all competitions, and they will just be hoping to avoid defeat at Anfield on Thursday. Their defence is good enough to handle Liverpool’s out of form attack as well.

      Reasons for Betting Tips

Both teams are severely lacking any sort of attacking threat at the moment. Augsburg have only scored three goals in their last six matches and Liverpool have failed to find the net in four of their last seven outings. Augsburg’s defence is looking fairly solid at the moment having kept a clean sheet in seven of their last nine games.

The lack of inspiration from both teams in the first leg was almost painful to watch, and I expect this to continue again on Thursday. Odds of 1/1 for Under 2.5 Goals look really good value too, especially considering the awful goalscoring record of both teams in recent weeks. Liverpool could edge it though, so a 1-0 correct score prediction is what I’m going for.

      Recent Form

      All competitions; most recent first.

      Liverpool: DWLDLDL

      Augsburg: WDLLDDW

      Head to Head

The goalless draw in Germany last week was the first meeting between these two sides.

      Statistics

Augsburg have seen Over 2.5 goals scored in 45% of their matches so far this season, but 80% of their last ten games have had under three goals scored. Four of Liverpool’s last seven outings have also seen a shortage of goals.

      Team News

Liverpool – Liverpool remain without long term injuries Danny Ings, Joe Gomez, and Martin Skrtel, with Dejan Lovren, Adam Lallana, and Joe Allen joining them. Daniel Sturridge remains fit.

Augsburg – The visitors come to Liverpool with defenders Raphael Framberger and Jan Callsen-Bracker out for the foreseeable. A number of players have joined them in the past week or two, with midfield quartet Daniel Baier, Piotr Trochowski, Jan Moravek, and Markus Feulner joining Raul Bobadilla and Jeong-Ho Hong on the sidelines.
