      Liverpool vs Bordeaux Predictions

Jurgen Klopp proved that he may well be worth his wages at Liverpool when they hammered Premier League leaders Manchester City 4-1 at the Etihad on Saturday.

They completely dominated the match from start to finish and fully deserved their victory, with that win making it four wins from Liverpool’s last five games in all competitions.

They have only lost once in their last 14 outings in all competitions as well, although a spell of five draws on the bounce was pretty disappointing.

But Liverpool now look like they have gotten to grips with Klopp’s footballing philosophy, and their results are starting to reflect the new found confidence.

They are in 2nd position in Europa League Group B having won one and drawn three of their four group games so far. Their win away to Rubin Kazan last time out suggested improvement, and they know that a win over Bordeaux on Thursday will secure qualification to the latter rounds.

Bordeaux sit down in 3rd position with three points from their opening four games. These points came from a trio of draws alongside a loss to group leaders Sion. A win against Liverpool would put them in prime position to claim qualification, as they host Rubin Kazan in their final group game whilst Liverpool have to visit Sion.

But Bordeaux’s form hasn’t been the best in recent weeks. They have lost two, drawn two, and won two of their last six games in all competitions, and away from home they haven’t won since a Europa League qualifier back at the start of August.

This makes it four losses and six draws in their ten games on the road since then, and with Liverpool proving hard to beat this season it’s not looking likely that Bordeaux will take maximum points.

Five of Liverpool’s last eight games have ended with two of fewer goals, whilst Bordeaux have only seen high scoring games twice in their last seven outings. Add to this the fact that they have only seen 12 goals netted between them in their eight combined group games so far and this makes odds of 17/20 for Under 2.5 Goals look excellent value.
