Tip Reasoning

  • Liverpool have the Premier League’s best attack with 45 goals in 16 games.
  • Newcastle have the worst defensive record in the division, conceding 2.13 goals per-game on average.
  • Liverpool have won three of their last four Premier League home games by three or more goals.
  • The Reds have won their last seven games and have scored four goals in three of those

Liverpool looking for eighth straight win

Newcastle were thrashed 4-0 at Leicester at the weekend and could be in line for another big defeat when they head to Anfield on Thursday.

Liverpool’s potent attack has struggled recently as they have been restricted to 1-0 victories in their last two Premier League wins, at Wolves and at home to Aston Villa, but Thursday’s match-up looks like a good opportunity for the Reds to rediscover their free-scoring form.

Newcastle have conceded an alarming 34 goals in 16 games and Thursday’s clash sees the Premier League’s best attack come up against the worst defence.

Liverpool can win with room to spare

Newcastle managed to hold Liverpool to draws in both meetings last season but getting any kind of result on Thursday looks a huge ask for Eddie Howe’s men.

Prior to the 1-0 win over Villa, Liverpool had won by at least three goals in three successive Premier League home games and they should be able to win with plenty of room to spare when the Magpies visit.

The Reds are the heavy favourites to win this match so to squeeze some value out of this fixture we need to be bold and a home win with a -2 handicap is the main bet. Newcastle haven’t conceded more than four goals on their travels as yet and Liverpool haven’t scored more than four at home, so a 4-0 win for the hosts has a chance in the correct score market.
