Liverpool vs Wolverhampton Predictions
- Liverpool have won their last six home league matches with Wolves
- The Reds have kept just one clean sheet in their last 15 fixtures in all competitions
- Wolves have won just one of their last ten outings in all competitions
- Cody Gakpo has scored 16 goals for Liverpool this season
Reds to bid farewell to Klopp in style
There will be a range of emotions on display at Anfield on Sunday as Liverpool bid farewell to legendary manager Jurgen Klopp following a hugely successful nine-year spell at the club.
And the Reds can ensure the overwhelming feeling is one of celebration as they say auf weidersehen to their German boss, with a victory over Wolves in their final match of the campaign.
Klopp has won the lot on Merseyside, bar the Europa League, and his side were in the Premier League title race until only a few weeks ago. A third-place finish is in the bag and Champions League football will return next season.
Liverpool ran out of steam at just the wrong time but they should be able to find enough energy to see off a Wolves side finishing the season with a whimper.
We predict a high-scoring home win at Anfield, just as was the case on the final day two seasons ago.
Clean sheets hard to come by for both
It was 3-1 to Liverpool when they closed out the 2021-22 campaign against Wolves, and our prediction is for a repeat result in this emotion-charged climax.
Neither side are particularly good at keeping clean sheets, with the Reds managing just one in their last 15 outings, while the Molineux men haven’t managed a single shutout in 12 contests stretching back to the end of February.
Liverpool’s last outing was a 3-3 draw at Aston Villa on Monday, where their defensive deficiencies were laid bare.
Wolves have shipped eight goals in their last two league fixtures, and Klopp’s formidable forward line will fancy their chances of signing off with a few goals.
A home win with a 3-1 score line is out correct score prediction, and there is a warm choice in the goal scorer market, too.
Gakpo has found goal scoring touch
Much has been made of Liverpool’s misfiring forwards recently, but they still possess an abundance of talent and Cody Gakpo is our prediction to come to the party at Anfield.
The Dutch starlet has had an up and down season, but he has still plundered 19 goals for club and country, including 16 for the Reds.
Two of those have come in his last two outings and the lanky forward is often in the right place at the right time.
Liverpool will look to turn on the style for Klopp’s swansong and we predict Gakpo to be one of the main beneficiaries to their cutting attacks.
