Longford Town will look to frustrate Saints

Longford Town haven’t tasted victory since seeing off Derry on the opening night and they will be hard pressed to end their 13-game winless streak against St Patrick’s Athletic on Saturday.

Despite defending well for long periods against Shamrock Rovers last time out they again conceded a late winner to frustrate manager Daire Doyle.

That made it eight games without a clean sheet and the Town have now not scored in five of their last six home games to boot.

Although visiting St Patrick’s have scored in all seven of their away games this season, we still think goals should be at a premium because Stephen O’Donnell’s men may only need to register once for the maximum return.

When these two sides met at Richmond Park earlier in the season the Inchicore outfit won 3-0, but the final score was not a fair reflection of the game.

The Town played well in the first half and, given their defensive showing against Shamrock Rovers recently, we are taking them to concede less than three.

Having failed to score in five of their previous seven at home, it would be a surprise to see them notch on Saturday so the Under 2.5 goals play looks to be the side of the ledger to be on.

The Saints only beat woeful Waterford 1-0 earlier this season when they were faced with a packed defence so that minimum margin victory is our recommendation in the correct score market.
