Los Angeles FC vs Minnesota United Predictions

  • Los Angeles FC are undefeated in seven of their eight home MLS games this season (won 4, drawn 3).
  • There has been fewer than three goals scored in Minnesota United’s last four away MLS games.
  • There has been fewer than three goals scored in three of the last four MLS meetings between these teams.

Don’t bank on goals when Loons visit California

Los Angeles FC can consolidate their position in the top six of the Western Conference with a victory at home to Minnesota United on Thursday morning.

LAFC sit one place above the Loons in fifth with one point more from their 15 games played so far, although Minnesota have a match in hand.

The Black and Gold are beginning to click after a slow start to the 2021 season which saw them pick up just five points from the first five games.

A haul of 17 points from the last ten has put Bob Bradley’s side on course to better last season’s seventh-placed finish- which was followed by a first-round playoff exit.

But no team in the MLS currently has better form than Minnesota United and only one side has conceded fewer goals than Adrian Heath’s men in their last six.

The Loons’ rise up the table has been largely built on home wins and clean sheets, although they have avoided defeat in three of their last four road trips.

Both sides had to come from behind in their last matches with Minnesota trailing for over an hour before a two-goal burst took them to victory over Portland.

LAFC were unable to find a winner against Vancouver Whitecaps, but it took a strong effort to battle back from two goals down to secure a draw.

Los Angeles could well return to winning ways at home in this one, but our preferred bet is Under 2.5 goals – which has consistently landed when the Loons have been on the road.

Our correct score forecast of 2-0 to the Black and Gold is based on Minnesota conceding an average of 1.83 on their travels this year and LAFC’s home goal average of 1.63.
