Friday night chance for Fiorentina

Fiorentina are going through a bit of a rough patch as they are winless in five (D2, L3) but Friday’s trip to Lecce looks like a good chance to get back to winning ways.

Lecce are a team in a real slump with just one point to show from their last six in Serie A, and they have only managed two goals during that spell.

The reverse fixture finished 2-2 as Fiorentina threw away a two goal lead, with Lecce scoring twice despite managing just two shots on target, but considering the hosts’ current form a repeat looks unlikely here.

La Viola’s winless run has coincided with some tough games as they lost out in the Super Cup to Napoli and went down 1-0 at home to Inter Milan as they returned to Serie A action last time out. They were incredibly unlucky against the Nerazzurri and on another day may have even won that game – and Nicolas Gonzalez saw a tame penalty saved late on as he made a return from injury from the bench.

Fiorentina’s results may have dipped but performances haven’t, and the same can’t be said for Lecce – who have looked toothless in attack recently. The visitors should have enough quality to win and as Lecce are struggling for goals a clean sheet looks likely for the visitors, so a 2-0 win for Fiorentina looks a reasonable correct score prediction.
