Luton vs Burnley Predictions
- Luton have found the net in 17 of their last 19 home matches
- Burnley have claimed just one point from their six Premier League games this term
- Carlton Morris has scored three of Luton’s five goals this season
Strugglers should put best foot forward
This was due to be Luton’s first home match in the Premier League before it was delayed by ground improvements at Kenilworth Road, but the Hatters entertain Burnley having finally found their feet at the top level.
A 1-1 draw with Wolves got them off the mark last week and then claimed their first victory when they won 2-1 at Everton on Saturday.
So, with the wind in their sails we expect them to be positive against Vincent Kompany’s side, who could relish the opportunity to play a game from which they are expected to get something.
That hasn’t necessarily been the case for most of their outings as despite earning a 1-1 draw at Nottingham Forest, they have suffered some humblings against the big names with Tottenham, Aston Villa and both Manchester clubs having won at Turf Moor.
Only bottom side Sheffield United have conceded more goals, but there looks a decent chance that they can at least get on the scoresheet here, just as they did last season when they won in Bedfordshire 1-0 in the Championship.
Promoted pair are tough to split
It took an Ashley Barnes penalty 12 minutes from time to separate these two teams when they met in the Championship at Luton in February and a similarly tight game can be expected on Tuesday.
Both teams will have earmarked this fixture as one they can take points from in their bid to stay in the Premier League but neither may have enough to keep their opponents in check.
Luton’s win at Goodison has been the only occasion this season when they have scored more than once and they were the second lowest scorers in the top ten of the Championship last season.
They have scored one goal in both of their Premier League home games against West Ham and Wolves and this could be a third occasion, so go for a 1-1 correct score, which was what Burnley posted in their away game at Nottingham Forest.
Morris is the man for Hatters
Those looking for an anytime-goalscorer bet should look no further than Luton striker Carlton Morris.
The Hatters are a big set-piece team, which means some f their defenders can make their presence felt, but preference is for Morris, who will lead the line and has scored three of their five goals this season.
He is plainly relishing the opportunity to prove himself at the highest level after scoring 20 Championship goals last term and he can find the net again on Tuesday.
